I grew up in a small town in Eastern Europe and spent much of my childhood outdoors playing in nature. Walking through the woods, seeing shapes in cloud formations, or looking at the patterns a river made as it carved its way through rock and sand became my inspiration for art. My artistic leanings surfaced early in life and I explored many mediums such as painting and pottery.
The urge to design and create remained strong and after receiving a degree in graphic design, which taught me how to analyze and see the world in different ways, I began to experiment with material art and jewellery making. The opportunity to study jewellery design and metalsmithing appeared several years after I pursued a career in graphic design. While working at an in-house studio as a graphic designer I attended courses in jewellery and metalsmithing
at George Brown College.
My work with metals naturally progressed as I became more comfortable with the learned techniques and I began to gravitate also to fabricating with silver wire. Many of my early pieces have a natural feel, resembling pebbles, pods and nests. Much of my work is about playing with form and structure.
Being earth conscious is very important to me and I take that to heart in my work. I make things that will be loved and cherished for many years. I love that the handmade movement is encouraging a move away from the disposable lifestyle.
When I am not creating I love to spend time with my rescued animals, go to museums, the theater, and art exhibitions. I enjoy being a fly on the wall. I love my work and I try to show it in every piece of jewellery that I make.

Creation Process
My line of contemporary jewellery features sculptural wirewoven gemstone necklaces, earrings, rings and cuff bracelets all handcrafted using time-honoured skills. I make all my jewellery in my small home studio where it is designed, fabricated and finished by myself, employing no assistants. I transform materials such as silver wire, sheet metal, stones and glass into wearable art. I have more jewellery design ideas in my head than I have time or hands to create. I am always making notes and creating little sketches in my notebook or any scrap of paper I can find. Sometimes I keep an idea filed away until it feels like the right time to start working on it.
Using my little sketches as a loose reference, I first create my jewellery frames for pendants, earrings and cuffs out of sterling silver using silver-smithing techniques and I hand weave wire through these frames with gorgeous semi-precious stones, pearls, and other rare components. I form all of my free-form wire jewellery pieces by hand. It is important to me that each piece of jewellery is well made, comfortable to wear
and one of a kind. Never satisfied with the familiar, I am always on a quest to create unexpected designs using color and texture that bring beauty and inspiration to everyday life.
